a privileged lesbian

i do not know the stats of how may LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transsexual and Intersex) people there are in SA. i do not know how many LGBTI people is employed and is working together with other people in offices or companies or in government, in the private sector, in corporate workplaces or in civil society.

i am, however sure that not all working LGBTI people experience an open, positive and supportive working environment. i believe that i am one of the privileged lesbians who is openly gay, openly married to a woman and comfortable within my workspace. today i once again felt a true acceptance of my colleagues of who i am.

and today i do not want to take this privilege for granted! i want to acknowledge my true appreciation to all straight people who are open enough to accept gay people as normal human beings. for valuing people for the human being he / she is – no matter the color of a skin, the specific background a person has, the person’s sex or the sexual orientation of the person. i want to acknowledge every person’s honest appreciation of every person – not based on anything else but been equal in the eyes of God.

to all my straight friends – i really appreciate the honest love and support you have for me and My Love!

today i want to honor you!!!
